There Are At Least Five Lessons, ‘I Swear’

[1] Main Support: As an end title card reminds, ‘New technology, medication and therapies can help many living with Tourette syndrome [with involuntary motor or vocal tics] but the most powerful support is education, understanding and acceptance.’

[2] No Pretence: Since no one will willingly and repeatedly ‘behave’ or ‘speak’ in ways that make themselves unwelcomed and bullied, even straining relationships, why even suspect those suffering from Tourette syndrome are just pretending?

[3] Why Me?: A younger John Davidson wondered, ‘Why it has to be me and not folks that are criminals or [those who] deserve it.’ If an unfair creator is not believed in, all that is left is random chance, or karma (that spans back to past lives, which operates fairly). Whatever one chooses, it is only fair to oneself, to rise above any indignation, to focus on doing one’s best despite it all.

[4] First Challenge: The first challenge is to rise above your challenges. (This is similar to seeking self-liberation in spirit.)

[5] Greater Purpose: The next challenge is to help others rise above their challenges. As an older John put it, ‘I’m now in a position to teach the teachers. For so long, I didn’t know who I was. I didn’t know what my purpose in life was. I finally kinda clicked. This is what I want to do. I want to go and help people.’ (This is similar to seeking to liberate others in spirit.)
