The monstrous in humans
warp the humanity in themselves,
as they strive to make ‘monsters’ of humans,
including themselves.
Such is Mara-‘unnature’,
fleeting as it is,
for that fleeting,
but to be vanquished for good.
That pure in humans
transform the monstrosity in themselves,
as they strive to revive the humane in ‘monsters’,
including themselves.
Such is Buddha-nature,
lasting as it is,
for that lasting,
but to be actualised for good.
