[2] ‘Cultivating blessings and not cultivating wisdom, on the elephant’s body hangs necklaces. [1] Cultivating wisdom and not cultivating blessings, the Arhat’s offerings are sparse.’…
必不得已，宁使 [2] 慧胜于福，莫令 [1] 福胜于慧。
若 [2] 慧胜于福，则知罪福而戒慎，故无坠堕；
若 [1] 福胜于慧，则因受福而作恶，故有坠堕。
[There is definitely no choice, but rather to enable [2] wisdom to be superior to blessings, and not cause [1] blessings to be superior to wisdom. If [2] wisdom is superior to blessings, then knowing transgressions and blessings, then with precepts cautious, thus without falling. If [1] blessings are superior to wisdom, then because of receiving blessings, then doing evil, thus having falling.
