TDE Verse
(Do Not Be Or Keep Bad Company):
Never keep bad company
unless you can make it better,
or you might become worse,
and grow the bad company.
Dhammapada Verse 61
(Do Not Associate With Fools):
If a person seeking a companion cannot find one
who is better than or equal to him,
let him/her resolutely go on alone;
there can be no companionship with a fool.
Dhammapada Verse 207
(Pain of Associating With Fools):
He who walks in the company of fools
has to grieve for a long time.
Association with fools is ever painful, as living with an enemy;
association with the wise is a pleasure, as living with relatives.
Dhammapada Verse 64
(Ineffective Association):
A fool, even though he is associated
with a wise man all his life,
does not understand the Dhamma,
just as a ladle does not know the taste of soup.
(Do not just not associate with fools;
do associate with the wise properly.)
