吃素偈
Verses On Eating As Vegans
多肉易病，蔬食营养，
所以吃素，身心安康。
As much meat-eating easily leads to sicknesses, while vegan foods are nutritious, therefore, with eating as vegans, this leads to the body and mind’s good health.
食肉必杀，减食少杀，
所以吃素，动物平安。
As for eating of meat, there definitely is killing, reducing meat-eating lessens killing, therefore, with eating as vegans, animals will have safety and peace.
肉耗资源，污染甚多，
所以吃素，最能环保。
As meat production consumes many natural resources, with pollution extremely much, therefore, with eating as vegans, this is most capable of protecting the environment.
繁殖动物，人缺植物，
所以吃素，人类无荒。
As with breeding of many animals, poorer humans lack plant foods, therefore, with eating as vegans, humankind will be without famines.
刀兵劫数，有杀生因，
所以吃素，世界和平。
As wars’ misfortunes, have killing of sentient beings as a cause, therefore, with eating as vegans, this leads to world peace.
一切众生，曾为父母，
所以吃素，亦是尽孝。
As all sentient beings, previously were our fathers and mothers, therefore, with eating as vegans, this is also being filial.
