Is Having Buddha Wallpapers Alright?

Question: Is it alright to have Buddha images as wallpapers on computers, tablets and phones, and as profile pictures for phone (and other media) apps?

Answer: If one’s intention of setting wallpapers and profile pictures is to remind oneself and others of the Buddha and his teachings respectfully, it is alright. This is surely better than to set those that distract away instead.

Of course, it is good to arrange surrounding icons on wallpapers neatly, so as to not mar the Buddha’s images, especially the face area, because this will defeat the purpose of setting the image as a respectful reminder.

If using Buddha images as profile pictures, there should be upright communication that abides by the precepts too, lest others associate what is not good with the Buddha and Buddhists. This will create evil karma for oneself.
