Verse On Firmness


– 文殊菩萨
    (华严经: 净行品11: 第30偈)

[When in the] lotus posture* seated,
[reflect that] ‘May sentient beings’
good roots** [be] firm and strong,
[to] attain [the] immovable ground.***

– Manjusri Bodhisattva
    (Avatamsaka Sutra: Chapter 11 On Pure Practices: Verse 30)

* with the left foot on the right thigh and the right foot on the left thigh for meditative practices
** or capacity for goodness and purity, free from the three poisons of greed, hatred and delusion
** which is the stage of non-retrogressive progress towards Buddhahood
