菩萨在家,
当愿众生,

免其逼迫。
– 文殊菩萨
(华严经: 净行品: 第1偈)
Bodhisattvas at home [who are laypeople],
[should reflect that] ‘May sentient beings
know their families’ [and homes’] nature
to be empty [of any fixed nature],
[to] avoid their constraints [and conflicts].’ *
– Manjusri Bodhisattva
(Avatamsaka Sutra: Chapter 11 On Pure Practices: Verse 1)
* Due to constantly changing nature of family
and its members in this life, and from life to life,
we should learn to love all more equanimously
with less, if any attachment, to a few loved ones.
