How To Repent For Disrespect?

Question: I did something very disrespectful before a Bodhisattva image. I am feeling extremely guilty and wish to express repentance. What is the best way?

Answer: You can prostrate before the image and recite homage to the Bodhisattva’s name sincerely – which is the opposite of disrespect. Do reverently express repentance this way, until there is no more guilt on your mind. It helps to study more about the Bodhisattva to cultivate greater respect too, as it was due to lack of understanding that led to disrespect in the first place. You might also want to share your confession and resolution at https://www.facebook.com/BuddhistConfessions to inspire others who have the same problem. This is repentance too.

  • Dear Brother or sister
Is good that you have realized your mistake and wish to repent.
My opinion is you sincerely go to the Bodhisattva and ask for forgiveness and promise that you will never repeat the same mistake again.
may you be happy and spiritually you can try to cultivate the noble eight fold paths to become a better person and remember do not cling on to the ignorance mistake.
