Unspoken Lessons From Unseen Wigs

Since we all run on our limited perception,
we do not perceive all with complete clarity.

Shilashanti (Part 1)

There is innately nothing wrong
with wearing an obvious wig (for fun),
that looks just like a wig to all.
Or an unobvious wig (to look presentable),
that does not look like a wig
at all,
thus going unnoticed by all.

However, the phenomenon
of obvious and unobvious wigs
does give rise to survivorship bias in perception.
Only the seen are readily seen,
while the unseen remain unseen
,
even if all are imagined to have been seen.

Those who directly spot obvious wigs
might assume it is very easy to spot all wigs,
but unobvious wigs are actually very difficult to spot.
Yet, as long as they keep spotting obvious wigs only,
they will have increasingly misplaced confidence
,
as they keep missing the unobvious wigs.

As they might not even know unobvious wigs exist,
their over-confidence thus feeds and sustains ignorance,
which does not know or believe there is that beyond
the usual.
Although we can only see what we see now,
while not seeing what more to see,
we can always practise seeing further and deeper.

The only way to know
if we have learnt all that should be learnt,
is to keep learning now.

Till we hit the roof of learning
like the fully enlightened Buddha did,
there is clearly more to learn.

Since we all run on our limited perception,
we should all strive to perceive more clearly.
