Question: When in a hurry, is there a quick way to offer guidance (开示) and support-chanting (助念) to the deceased, such as insects and small animals come across?
Answer: To offer guidance, say aloud, or silently but clearly in the mind before the deceased, ‘Please sincerely recite Āmítuófó’s (阿弥陀佛) name, till you see him, to follow him, to where there is no more suffering; only bliss. Āmítuófó, Āmítuófó, Āmítuófó…’ The ending is the support-chanting with the Buddha’s name, which should be at least ten times and beyond, as time available permits.
