If having upholding in mind,
uphold the body by not creating lustful desires,
uphold the eyes by not seeing lustful forms,
uphold the ears by not hearing lustful sounds,
uphold the nose by not smelling lustful smells,
uphold the tongue by not touching lustful flavours,
with such named as having complete wisdom,
for practising the Eightfold Noble Path.

Not lusting, the pure body and mind, as an analogy,
is like a lotus flower, not attached to dust and dirt,
with accomplishing… of the Unsurpassable Great Path,
this is all from not lusting, with purity thus attained.

Śākyamuni Buddha
(Receiving Ten Goodnesses’ Precepts’ Sūtra)
