菩萨摩诃萨先自除恶，后教人除。
若不自除，能教他除，无有是处！
是故菩萨先应自施、持戒、知足、
勤行精进，然后化人。

Bodhisattva Mahāsattvas should first personally eliminate evils, after that teaching people to eliminate them. If not personally eliminating them, to be able to teach others to eliminate them, this is without possibility! Therefore, Bodhisattvas first should personally give, uphold Precepts, know contentment, and persevere in practices diligently, after that transforming people.
