A prayer wheel, usually made of metal, wood or stone, is a cylinder on a spindle. Traditionally, the mantra Om Mani Padme Hung is written in Sanskrit on its exterior. According to the Tibetan Buddhist tradition's lineage texts, spinning such a wheel will have create the same meritorious effect as orally reciting the paper rolls of prayers put in it.
