May we stop calling ghosts (鬼)
as ‘one or two (一只或两只) dirty things’ (肮脏的东西),
with utter disgust and disdain.
Where is our compassion and empathy?
They are also sentient beings,
suffering from much deluded aversion,
thus frightening at times.
Our belittling defiled emotions are too cruel.
May we stop calling ghosts
as ’good brothers’ (好兄弟) too,
with sheer fear and flattery.
Where is our calmness and clarity?

thus desperate at times.
Our bootlicking fretful sentiments are too patronising.
With strong attachment reborn,
