远离二边,
直行中道。
不偏不离,
即是佛道。
Far depart from the two extremes, by straightforwardly walking the Middle Path. Not being one-sided and not leaving it, this then is the Buddha path.
Shilashanti
子贡问:「师与商也孰贤?」
子曰:「师也过,商也不及。」
曰:「然则师愈与?」
子曰:「过犹不及。」

Zigòng asked, ‘Of Shī and Shāng, who is more virtuous?’ The Master said, ‘Shī goes too far, and Shāng does not reach.’ Saying, ‘Then, Shī is more so?’ The Master said, ‘To go too far is like to not reach.’
