Question: I am impatient, with short attention for Dharma learning and practice. What should I do?
Answer: First, do not keep affirming to yourself that you are so. What you keep affirming is likely to be sustained or even increase.
Second, do keep reminding yourself on how you should be instead. Tell yourself that you will be more attentive to learn and practise the precious Dharma.
When you become less attentive, repeat this to yourself as a reminder — ‘What I do not learn and practise well, I will have to relearn and re-practise in my next life, but I might not encounter the Dharma again. Thus, I will be as attentive as I can as my time is running out.’
