Question: On celebrating kids’ birthdays, could it be the kids’ good karma that made the celebrations possible?
Answer: Of course, it is the kids’ good karma to be able to have such celebrations, but it is due to good karma from past life (or lives) if without much doing of good personally in this life yet.
Question: As many birthday celebrations involve lots of meat, will this have a detrimental effect on the birthday kid?
Answer: It is not a good idea to expend good karma in habitually careless ways, that feasts on animals, which creates bad karma due to being more caught up in the cycle of supply and demand of the suffering of many mother sentient beings.
Question: Will celebrating birthdays with vegan meals diminish one’s good karma?
Answer: It is always good to go vegan in everyday life, what more to invite many for a vegan meal occasionally. This creates good karma instead, as it is a kind of offering of vegan food for others too, which reduces their demand for meat, even if just for one meal. Of course, there should not be much greedy indulgence. The food is best sincerely offered to the Triple Gem first too.
