Question: Is the positive karma created the same, between donating all of one’s wealth before death, versus writing a will to do so after death?
Answer: If the amount is the same, with equal generosity and non-attachment when alive and deceased, the positive karma is the same. However, the later the karma is created by actualisation of the good deed, the later will it bear fruit, just as the later a seed is planted, the later it sprouts. This bearing of fruit might not be in time to facilitate a better rebirth in the immediate life, though it can still bear fruit in a subsequent life when conditions are available. In this sense, it might be better to donate throughout life.
