There is no need to demand to know
the names of troubling dark demons,
no matter how many and malevolent they are.
There is just need to know
how to be sincerely mindful
of the one name of Āmítuófó (阿弥陀佛: Amitā[bha] Buddha).
That sacred name of the Buddha,
who represents the power of all Buddhas,
who shines immeasurable light (无量光) of blessings.
There is no condemning and banishing to ‘eternal’ hell,
but guiding towards repentance and mindfulness of his name
to reach his Pure Land with immeasurable life (无量寿).
Even the most evil, the seemingly ‘go(o)dless’,
have lasting Buddha-nature, the potential for Buddhahood,
while their demonic-natures are fleeting.
Even the most evil can be instantly protected from,
eventually touched and transformed,
with continual mindfulness of the Awakened One.
